A real New York style pizza, it's thin-crusted, foldable, yet crispy.
A traditional New York style pizza is normally topped with light tomato sauce and cheese, and any toppings that can be added with cheese. But since I'm a big fan of chicken pizza with mushrooms, I also added pieces of lightly cooked chicken with caramelised onions and spices, mushrooms, tomatoes, and yellow + red bell peppers! But feel free to add any topping that you like!
You will love how soft the crust is, yet it's crispy at the same time. This is the best pizza recipe that I ever tried.

New York Style Pizza Recipe
Serves: 1 large pizza
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water (not hot)
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
For the Toppings:
- 1/2 cup chicken (cooked)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 medium tomato
- 200 grams grated mozzarella
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- mushrooms
Instructions
- In a small sized mixing bowl, add water (make sure it's warm, as hot water can kill the yeast), salt, yeast, 1/2 cup of flour, stir well and let it sit aside until the mixture gets bubbly.
- In another medium sized mixing bowl add olive oil, salt, and 2 cups of flour, and mix together using a spoon.
- Add the bubbly mixture to the rest of the ingredients, mix until it's all together enough to knead on a lightly floured work surface to knead.
- knead for about 10 minutes then form a dough ball and let it sit in a bowl covered with a kitchen towel for about 2 hours or until the dough ball doubles in size (in a warm place to let the dough rise). When I don't have time to wait I place the bowl with the dough in another bowl that's filled with warm water (not hot!), the dough rises within 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 220°, get a pizza pan and grease it with olive oil. When the dough doubles in size, knead it for a couple of minutes then roll it out into the desired shape and transfer it to the pan.
- Add the topics that you like, bake until the bottom and the edges are lightly golden.
