I'm one of those people that like to make things from scratch. I don't like cake mix or powdered whip! And today I decided to make a thin crust healthy pizza, the key to a really good pizza is of course the crust. Many people make homemade pizzas, but most use ready made crusts. In this post I will be sharing with you the recipe of my version of a homemade, skinny, delicious, pizzeria-style pizza including the crust.

This pizza is low in calories (less than 300 calories in every pizza) and it fills you up! But you can make it even lighter by substituting Parmesan cheese for mozzarella and wheat flour for white flour.

You will absolutely love this pizza, it's full of flavour, fills you up for long, and is very delicious! And the best part? you'll feel good knowing that you're eating something healthy!

Top your pizza with any vegetables that you like, you can add mushrooms, bell peppers, broccoli, olives... literally just anything you like! If you do try it, leave me a comment and tell me how it turned out, I'd love to hear from you!

Skinny Pizza Recipe
(Serves: 10 medium Pizzas )
Ingredients
  • Pizza dough: (1kg of dough)
  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil
  • 370ml water
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 340 grams whole wheat flour
  • 300 grams all purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp natural yoghurt

  • Topping:
  • 300 grams light shredded mozarella
  • parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 5 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 large onion
  • rocket leaves (Jarjeer)
  • tomatoes
  • lightly fried chicken pieces sprinkled with powdered paprika
  • sweet corn (optional)

Instructions
  1. In a medium sized bowl mix flour with salt. In another bowl mix the rest of the ingredients and leave for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour to the wet ingredients gradually, keep mixing. Work the rest of the flour in with your hands, knead until you have nice smooth dough.
  3. Place the ball of dough in a bowl, cover with damp cloth and place in a warm place for about 1 hour until the dough doubles in size.
  4. It's your choice whether you want to make a one huge pizza or many small ones. Knead dough and roll into desired shape. Grease a baking tray and place rolled dough on it.
  5. Spread tomato sauce over cheese then sprinkle with some shredded mozzarella. Spread vegetables and chicken evenly then top with more shredded mozzarella.
  6. Slide pizza in oven and bake on 220c for 15 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned.
